History of Pachmarhi

This hill station is located in the Hoshangabad district, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. The name Pachmarhi is made up of two words Pach and Marhi, Pach means five, and Madhi means caves. 

It is believed that five Pandavas built these caves and lived in seclusion at this place during the Mahabharata period. This place is situated at an altitude of about 1067 meters above sea level.
